That's a good idea, like getting the guild signet from the Tomes.

Maybe I don't understand or you just don't explain yourself enough for my satisfaction.
I never said anything about buying and reselling items. I was referring to say building a crafting skill or repairing skill (painstakingly) and then you repair/craft for other players by charging a price. Furthermore, the origional post was about making a town in guildwars, which would mean that anybody could get in (that is how I understood it, otherwise it just doesn't make sense).

I have come from Shadowbane where you do just that, you make a town and then have to defend it. Part of the great appeal of GW is that they are getting rid of all of the time sinks. And running a town, making items, etc is a huge time sink.

And if the town lets you get better items or have any advantage then everyone needs to be a part of a town, since ulitmately this game is about equal competition.
And now you are forcing more time sinks on players who dont want it.

If the town gives no advantages then for most people it would not be worth the time and money to build it.

It just seems that at this moment this goes against the feel of the game.

At least on the Hunter's Island, there is a town to "hang out" at, so you can roleplay if you'd like and just say that you're controlling that town and people have to pay you tithes/whatever you want. But the idea of having crafters/"repairers" (even though as far as I know nothing breaks besides Kits, and those are just used up) wouldn't work, since crafters are located in certain areas for specific reasons; they shouldn't be one around every corner for your convenience. Besides, it's not like it takes long to travel to a town, get your loot, and then travel to the Guild Hall.

Sounds like a no-go to me.

This reminds me of life of a peasant in WC3 battle.net but in LoaP we didn't have to raise lvls and do other things. I think this would be a bit to much and i really don't care about running a town. If this happened i am thinking the map would be full of random towns anyway.

It's a guildhall, though. Making it a town would contradict the fact that it is a guildhall. And a repairing skill would be really stupid in GW. The fact that the emphasis is on skills and not items is one thing that makes this game great. To put in that we have to maintain our weapons and/or armor to keep playing would defeat the purpose of limiting the grinding other games insist on.
